Delivery Note Template

A note that lists the goods delivered and their quantities, so the recipient can confirm what arrived.

What is a delivery note?
A delivery note lists the goods included in a delivery so the recipient can check what arrived. Receipt Caker builds one in the browser, listing items and quantities without needing prices.
Does a delivery note show prices?
It does not have to. A delivery note focuses on what was delivered and how many, so quantities matter more than prices. You can leave the money side to the invoice.

What a delivery note is for

A delivery note travels with goods to confirm what is being handed over. The recipient uses it to check the shipment against what was ordered, so any shortfall or error is spotted on arrival rather than later.

Unlike an invoice, a delivery note is about the goods, not the money. Its job is to say these items, in these quantities, were delivered on this date, which is why prices are usually optional.

Building it in Receipt Caker

Add your details as the sender and the recipient with their delivery address, then set a delivery note number and date. Reference the related order so the note can be matched to it.

List each item delivered with a description and the quantity. You can leave the rate blank, since the point is to confirm goods rather than charge for them. The live preview shows the finished note.

Signing on receipt

Many delivery notes leave room for the recipient to sign, confirming the goods arrived. Including a note or a line for a signature turns the document into a simple record that the handover happened.

A clear reference number helps here too. If a query comes up later, the signed note and its reference make it easy to show what was delivered and when.

Exporting the delivery note

When the list is complete, export a free watermarked PNG or a Pro PDF to print and send with the goods. Add a logo with Pro so the note looks part of your paperwork.

Receipt Caker creates the document only. It does not arrange delivery, track shipments, or handle payment, so the logistics and the matching invoice stay with you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a delivery note and an invoice?
A delivery note confirms which goods were delivered and in what quantity, while an invoice requests payment for them. The delivery note travels with the shipment so the recipient can check what arrived; the invoice usually follows separately and carries the prices and totals owed.
Do I have to include prices on a delivery note?
No. A delivery note is about confirming goods, so quantities are the focus and prices are optional. In Receipt Caker you can list each item with a description and quantity and leave the rate blank, keeping the note focused on what was delivered rather than what it costs.
Should a delivery note have its own number?
Yes, a unique delivery note number is useful. It lets you link the note to the related order and to the invoice that follows, so if there is a query about a shipment you can trace the paperwork. Receipt Caker lets you set the number yourself in a consistent format.
Can the recipient sign the delivery note?
You can leave space for a signature so the recipient confirms the goods arrived. Once printed, the person receiving the delivery can sign the copy, which becomes a simple record that the handover took place. Receipt Caker produces the printable document for you to use that way.
Does Receipt Caker arrange the delivery?
No. Receipt Caker only creates the delivery note document. It does not book couriers, track shipments, or manage logistics. You handle the actual delivery yourself and use the exported note to accompany the goods and confirm what was sent to the recipient.
How do I match a delivery note to the right order?
Add a reference or order number field to the note so it points back to the original purchase order or invoice. Keeping consistent references across your documents means a delivery note, its order, and the eventual invoice can all be matched up when you review your records.
