Packing Slip Template

A slip that lists the contents of a shipment or box, so the receiver can check the order against what was packed.

A packing slip lists the contents of a shipment so the receiver can check the box against the order. Receipt Caker builds one in the browser, listing items and quantities, prices optional.
What goes on a packing slip?
The items and quantities inside the shipment, plus the order reference and addresses. Prices are usually left off, since the slip is about contents, not cost.

What a packing slip does

A packing slip goes inside or on a shipment and lists what is packed. When the box arrives, the receiver checks the contents against the slip, so a missing or wrong item is caught straight away.

It is closely related to a delivery note but focuses on the physical contents of a package: what is in this box, and how many of each. That makes it a practical tool for anyone shipping goods.

Listing the contents

In Receipt Caker, add a row for each item in the shipment with a description and the quantity packed. Prices are optional, because the slip exists to confirm contents rather than to charge.

Include the order reference and the shipping address so the slip matches the right order and reaches the right place. The live preview shows the packed list as it will export.

Checking off the shipment

A packing slip helps at both ends. The person packing can tick items off as they go, and the receiver can do the same when unboxing. Leaving room for a checkmark or note makes that easy.

If the shipment spans several boxes, a clear item count and reference help everyone confirm the whole order arrived, not just one part of it.

Exporting the packing slip

When the contents are listed, export a free watermarked PNG or a Pro PDF to print and include with the shipment. Add your logo with Pro for a branded slip.

Receipt Caker builds the document only. It does not ship the goods, print labels, or track the parcel, so the physical shipping and any invoice remain your responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a packing slip and a delivery note?
They overlap, but a packing slip focuses on the contents of a specific shipment or box, listing what was packed inside, while a delivery note confirms the goods handed over in a delivery overall. In practice both list items and quantities and often travel with the goods to be checked on arrival.
Should a packing slip include prices?
Usually not. A packing slip is about what is in the box, so it lists items and quantities rather than money. Receipt Caker lets you leave the rate fields blank, keeping the slip focused on contents. Prices belong on the invoice, which follows to request payment for the goods.
How does a packing slip help with checking orders?
The receiver compares the items and quantities on the slip against what is actually in the shipment, so any missing or incorrect item shows up immediately. Leaving space to tick items off makes the check quick, and an order reference confirms the slip belongs to the right shipment.
Can I use one packing slip for multiple boxes?
You can list everything in a shipment on one slip and include a total item or package count so the receiver knows how many boxes to expect. Alternatively you can create a slip per box. Receipt Caker lets you build either, since you control the rows and quantities you add.
Does Receipt Caker print shipping labels?
No. Receipt Caker only creates the packing slip document. It does not generate shipping labels, book couriers, or track parcels. You handle the shipping arrangements yourself and use the exported slip to list the contents inside or on the package for the receiver to check.
Do I need to sign up to make a packing slip?
No. You can build a packing slip and export a free watermarked PNG without any signup. An account is only needed for Pro, which removes the watermark and adds PDF export and logo upload, giving you a cleaner, branded slip to include with your shipments.
