Chipotle Receipt

A Chipotle receipt sits between a restaurant check and a retail slip. There is no table and no server, but every item carries a stack of ingredient choices underneath it, and the whole thing is organized around an order number. Receipt Caker builds that layout in your browser.

How do I make a Chipotle receipt?
Receipt Caker builds a counter or pickup receipt in your browser for free. Put the order number and pickup time in custom rows, list ingredients under each item, add the tip, then export a PNG or a PDF.
What does a Chipotle receipt include?
The order number and pickup time, each item with its ingredient choices listed underneath, upcharges for extras such as guacamole or queso, the tax, a tip if one was added, and the name the order was placed under.

What you can do

  • Ingredient choices listed as indented sub-lines under each item
  • Custom rows for order number, pickup time and the name on the order
  • Upcharges for extras priced on their own lines
  • Tip as a separate total line, since counter orders are tipped at payment
  • Thermal widths and a till font for a counter-style slip
  • Free PNG export; Pro removes the watermark and adds PDF

What Does a Chipotle Receipt Look Like?

A Chipotle receipt is a narrow counter slip, or an emailed version of the same thing if you ordered in the app. The header names the restaurant and its address, then carries an order number and, for a pickup order, the name it was placed under and the time it was due.

The item block is the interesting part. A line reading burrito bowl tells you almost nothing, so the ingredient choices sit underneath it as indented sub-lines: the protein, the rice, the beans, the salsas. Most of those carry no price. The ones that do are the extras, so guacamole or queso print with their own upcharge beside them, and double protein prints as its own line rather than doubling the item price.

Below the items come the subtotal, the tax and the total, then the tip if one was left, then the card that paid. A Chipotle order is tracked by its order number rather than a table, so that number is the reference to keep if you ever need to ask about the order later.

How to Get a Copy of a Chipotle Receipt

If you ordered through the Chipotle app or the website, the receipt is already in your account. Sign in, open your order history and select the order to see the full itemized breakdown, including the ingredient choices and any extras. Digital orders also send an email confirmation at the time of purchase, so a search of your inbox for the order date usually finds it.

In-restaurant purchases are less certain. Scanning your rewards code at the register attaches the order to your account, and it will show in the app afterwards. If you paid without scanning anything, there may be no digital copy at all, though a restaurant can sometimes reprint from the register on the same day if you ask at the counter.

Catering orders are handled separately and generally come with an emailed confirmation and invoice, which is worth digging out before rebuilding anything, since a real invoice carries more weight with a finance team than a reconstruction.

How to Make a Chipotle Receipt

Open the builder and pick a thermal width. Put the restaurant name and address in the header, then add custom rows for the order number, the pickup time and the name on the order. Those rows do the job a table number does on a sit-down check.

Add each item as its own line, then write the ingredient choices as indented sub-lines beneath it. Price only the ones that carried an upcharge, so the arithmetic stays readable while the detail survives. A group order is easier to follow if you keep each person's item and its sub-lines together rather than grouping all the extras at the bottom.

Set your tax rate, add the tip as its own total line, and set the payment method. Check the live preview and download a PNG for free, or a PDF with Pro if the receipt is going into an expense system.

Splitting a Group Chipotle Order

Team lunches are where these receipts get genuinely useful. A large pickup order arrives as one card charge, and everyone who ate wants to know what their share was. The slip is the only thing that can tell them, provided the items are listed individually rather than merged into a quantity.

Keep each order on its own line with its extras underneath, and the per-person total is readable straight off the document. Add the tax and the tip at the foot and note how you split them, since guacamole upcharges make a strict per-head split unfair to whoever ordered plainly.

Using a Chipotle Receipt for an Expense Report

Meal claims usually need an itemized receipt rather than a card line, because a policy that reimburses food but caps alcohol or gratuity cannot be applied to a single total. A Chipotle slip with items, tax and tip on separate lines answers that in one glance.

Keep the tip visible rather than buried in the total. Plenty of expense policies reimburse food in full and cap the gratuity, and a merged figure means someone has to work backwards from a menu price to unpick it.

Receipt Caker is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Chipotle, and what it produces is a generic restaurant receipt rather than a replica of Chipotle's own slip. Reconstructing a meal you actually bought is bookkeeping. Inventing one to claim reimbursement is fraud against whoever is paying, and our terms forbid it.

Chipotle vs Qdoba Receipt Format

Build-your-own restaurants all produce the same shape of receipt, because they all have the same problem: the item name describes a container, not a meal. Chipotle, Qdoba and the rest solve it by nesting the ingredient choices under the item and pricing only the extras.

What differs is which ingredients cost extra. Some chains include queso and guacamole in the base price, so their receipts show long ingredient lists with no prices attached. Others charge for them, so the sub-lines carry money. That is a menu difference rather than a format difference, and the builder handles either by letting you decide which sub-lines are priced.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get an old Chipotle receipt from the app?
If the order was placed in the app or on the website, yes. Sign in and open your order history to see the itemized breakdown. In-restaurant purchases only appear if you scanned your rewards code at the register, so a cash purchase made without scanning may have no digital copy at all.
Why does my Chipotle receipt show an extra charge for guacamole?
Because guacamole and queso are upcharges on most items rather than included ingredients. They print as their own priced sub-lines under the item they were added to, which is also why two of the same bowl can come to different amounts on the same receipt.
How do I show ingredient choices under an item?
Write them as indented sub-lines beneath the item they belong to and price only the ones that carried an upcharge. That mirrors how a counter ticket prints and keeps the arithmetic legible when several people ordered at once.
Does a Chipotle receipt have an order number?
Yes. A counter operation has no table to track you by, so it uses an order number and often the first name the order was placed under. Keep both in custom rows when you rebuild a slip, since they are what identify the order.
Is it legal to make a Chipotle receipt?
Recording a meal you actually bought is ordinary record-keeping and there is nothing unlawful about it. Making up an order to claim reimbursement from an employer, or presenting a document as one a restaurant issued, is fraud. Our terms forbid it.
Does Receipt Caker copy Chipotle's receipt design?
No. Receipt Caker is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Chipotle, and the builder does not reproduce Chipotle's logo, typography or trade dress. It produces a plain, generic restaurant receipt carrying the kinds of information any itemized food slip carries. The sample loaded here is an invented restaurant.
Is the builder free to use?
PNG downloads are free and unlimited without an account. A one-time Pro upgrade removes the watermark and adds PDF export and logo uploads.
