Sales Receipt
A sales receipt is proof that a sale happened, listing the goods, the amount, and the date. Receipt Caker builds one generically, under your own business name, in seconds.
- How do I make a sales receipt?
- Receipt Caker lets you build a generic sales receipt by entering the business name, date, and a line for each item sold with its quantity and price. The tool totals the sale, applies tax, and shows a live preview you can download as a PNG or PDF.
- What belongs on a sales receipt?
- A complete sales receipt names the seller, the sale date, and each item with its quantity and price, then shows the subtotal, tax, total, and payment method. A receipt number helps for records. Receipt Caker provides an editable field for each of these.

Itemizing the Sale
A sales receipt earns its name by listing what sold. Give each product its own line with a description, quantity, and price, and the subtotal adds them together.
Describing items in plain, generic terms keeps the receipt honest: it records what your business actually sold rather than copying any retailer's layout or branding.
Tax, Total, and Receipt Number
Enter your tax rate to apply it to the taxable subtotal, and the grand total combines items and tax. A receipt number in a note field helps you match the sale to your records later.
Recording the payment method, cash or card, completes the proof of sale. Everything the buyer and seller need sits on one document.
Sales Receipt vs. Invoice
A sales receipt confirms a payment that already happened, while an invoice requests a payment that has not. If money changed hands, the sales receipt is the right document.
Because the fields are editable, you can add a due-date note if you need something closer to an invoice, but the default output reads as proof that the sale is paid and done.
Legitimate Uses for a Sales Receipt
A sales receipt gives a customer proof of a genuine purchase, supports a return or warranty claim, and keeps a seller's books straight. Rebuilding one for a real sale is a common, honest use.
Every receipt stays generic and fully editable. It carries your own business name and the actual sale rather than imitating any real store, so the document is honest and yours.
